Danielle Colby took to Instagram to reveal the History Channel has decided to cancel the beloved reality series American Pickers after an incredible 15-year run
American Pickers is officially coming to an end as Danielle Colby announced that the History Channel has cancelled the hit reality show after 27 seasons on air.
On Thursday, December 4, the 50-year-old television personality revealed the news in an Instagram post captioned, “OK, here we go! BIG transitions in the works.” Just days after their birthday, they learned, “I just found out that American Pickers is done.” She then admitted her life will dramatically change “without the financial support of American Pickers.“
“It’s going to be a wild one,” Danielle added, before confessing they already have other projects in the works.
“I am at this epic crossroads where I’ve laid out what I want to do – so I already have that plan in motion,” they mentioned. “But now is the time where I like have to, like, fully dig in and commit to this plan that I have laid out.”
As they “mentally shift,” Danielle is taken back to where they were when American Pickers started in 2010.
At the time, when they weren’t “really getting paid by Pickers yet,” they were “doing burlesque” and other freelance gigs to support themself.
“So it takes me back to the space where I’m like building everything up from scratch,” she confessed.
Despite the show’s cancellation, Danielle has no intention of fading from the spotlight. In fact, they’ve promised their followers they will be more in the loop than ever.
The television personality said, “I’m gonna take you with [me] on this journey because I don’t know what to do if I’m not filming my work.
“You can come with me on this process as a former reality TV star, just trying to find her f—ing way in the world,” they added.
As of right now, Danielle is focusing on their Ecdysiast Arts Museum. The exhibit, located in Davenport, Iowa, is dedicated to the history, art and culture of burlesque.
Colby said they are planning on focusing efforts on their business, the Ecdysiast Arts Museum located in their native Davenport, Iowa. They opened it up earlier this year, however, it hasn’t turned out to be lucrative just yet.
“I’ve got the plan; we’re moving forward – but how do I make money with the museum? That’s the question … wish me luck,” Danielle concluded.
The reality show, created by Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, follows a group of “pickers” who travel across the country to uncover hidden antique gems in junkyards, basements and other peculiar places.
American Pickers airs on the History Channel at 9/8c.
