Impact Day: Another round of storms threaten Central Florida tonight
Another round of strong storms will be on tap early Wednesday morning, which is why First Warning meteorologists are calling a First Warning Weather Day.
TRAVEL SEASON. OKAY, WE ALL KNOW THAT YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE FORECAST IS GOING TO BE FOR MEMORIAL DAY. TOO SOON. FOR THAT, WE GOT TO GET THROUGH SOME WEATHER HERE. TONY WE HAVE A LULL RIGHT NOW, SO WE’RE IN A LITTLE BREAK. SO WE DROPPED TO 72 DEGREES IN ORLANDO AFTER THE STORMS CAME THROUGH. WHERE ARE WE AT 90? WOW. YEAH. SO SO WE’RE AND WE’RE WATCHING ANOTHER COMPLEX OF STORMS IN THE GULF OF MEXICO, WHICH I’LL DETAIL HERE FOR YOU IN A SECOND. AND JUST KNOW THAT TOMORROW IS YET ANOTHER FIRST WARNING WEATHER DAY. WE DO ANTICIPATE EITHER A TORNADO WATCH OR A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH WITH THE NEXT ROUND OF SEVERE STORMS TOMORROW. LOOK AT THAT 8990 DEGREES. NOW, WHEN YOU HEAT THINGS UP AND YOU GOT A FEATURE IN THE GULF, YOU HAVE TO WATCH OUT FOR SOME RETURN SHOWERS AND STORMS. SO WE THINK THIS EVENING THERE WILL BE SOME SHOWERS AND STORMS. THE GOOD NEWS THOUGH, THE LIVE LIGHTNING TELLS THE BIG STORY HERE. THE NUMBER OF LIGHTNING STRIKES IN THIS LITTLE CLUSTER DOES APPEAR TO BE WEAKENING RIGHT NOW, BUT WE’LL WATCH THE TRENDS ON THIS OVERNIGHT TONIGHT AS IT MOVES UP TO THE NORTH AND EAST. BOY, THE FIRST ROUND OF STORMS CAME THROUGH WITH OVER 20 OVER 20 REPORTS OF WIND IN EXCESS OF 40 MILES AN HOUR. HERE’S SOME OF THE PEAK GUST KISSIMMEE 49. ORLANDO EXECUTIVE 48. DAYTONA BEACH, 45 PONCE INLET AND TITUSVILLE ALL COMING IN WITH WIND GUSTS AT ABOUT 45 MILES AN HOUR. MUCH NEEDED RAIN, THOUGH, DID ARRIVE TODAY. FRUIT IN THE PARK MONTCLAIR, THE VILLAGES, WILDWOOD WELL OVER AN INCH OF RAIN. WE WATCH FUTURECAST HERE. THE WIDER VIEW SHOWS THIS FIRST IMPULSE WEAKENS AND THEN AS THE FRONT APPROACHES TOWARDS MORNING, WE’RE GOING TO SEE AN UPTICK IN THE ACTIVITY, PROBABLY REACHING MARION COUNTY AROUND THE 8:00 HOUR. THE MAIN LINE THAT IS. SO FOR TONIGHT, WE’LL WATCH THE STORMS COMING OFF THE GULF OF MEXICO. THERE COULD BE 1 OR 2 STRONG STORMS. I DON’T THINK WE’RE GOING TO REACH THE SEVERE LIMITS BEFORE MIDNIGHT. I THINK WE’LL HAVE TO WAIT TILL TOMORROW MORNING, BUT WE’LL WATCH THE RADAR TRENDS. WE’LL BE HERE ALL NIGHT WATCHING THAT WARM, MUGGY START 70 TO 75 DEGREES OUT THERE. DAVE PLANNER. FROM SUN UP TO ABOUT 4 OR 5:00. WE COULD BE DEALING WITH STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS. OF COURSE, WE’LL KEEP YOU POSTED ON THAT. I WANTED TO SHOW YOU A FUTURECAST. YOU CAN SEE 8 A.M. STORMS DEVELOPING IN THE METRO AREA, BUT THE ACTUAL COLD FRONT ARRIVING JUST TO THE NORTH OF MARION COUNTY. THAT’S WHEN THE SHOWERS AND STORMS GET GOING. EVERYTHING DROPS TO THE SOUTH SUCH THAT BY 2:00 IT’S IN THE METRO AREAS. CLERMONT OVER TOWARDS TITUSVILLE, THREE, FOUR, FIVE, 6:00. DOWN ACROSS THE SOUTHERN REACHES OF OUR VIEWING AREA. THEN ON FINALLY FOR THURSDAY AND FRIDAY, WE’LL GET A LITTLE BIT OF QUIET TIME. BUT OVERALL RAINFALL TOTALS HERE COULD EASILY EXCEED TWO, THREE, EVEN FOUR INCHES OF RAIN AS THAT FRONT DROPS FROM NORTH TO SOUTH. HERE’S THE RISK FOR TOMORROW A LEVEL TWO OUT OF FIVE, MEANING WE ARE EXPECTING SCATTERED SEVERE STORMS WHEN YOU BREAK IT DOWN, THE TORNADO RISK IN THE YELLOW IS A LEVEL TWO HERE. DAMAGING WINDS. AND ALSO WE’LL BE WATCHING THE HAIL CONCERNS WITH THESE STORMS AS THEY MARCH FROM NORTH TO SOUTH. SO AGAIN REITERATING FIRST WARNING WEATHER DAY FOR TOMORROW. LEVEL TWO OUT OF FIVE TIMING FROM SEVEN IN THE MORNING TO ABOUT 5:00 IN THE EVENING. THE AFTERNOON HIGHS TOMORROW SHOULD BE IN CHECK. COMPLIMENTS OF THE EARLY ARRIVAL OF THOSE SHOWERS AND STORMS. THURSDAY. FRIDAY FRONT DROPS TO THE SOUTH FRIDAY. LATE ON INTO THE WEEKEND WE GET SOUPY AGAIN WITH THOSE DAILY AFTERNOON SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS RETURN OVER THE WEEKEND, SO LET’S GO AHEAD AND PUT IT ALL TOGETHER NOW. HERE FOR YOU HAD THOSE WEATHER RADIOS READY TO GO? WE’LL BE HERE. TAG TEAMING ALL THROUGHOUT THE MORNING. IN THE AFTERNOON TOMORROW. MARQUISE AND I IN THE AFTERNOON. KELLIANNE AND CAM IN THE MORNING. THURSDAY. MAYBE A LINGERING SHOWER IN THE MORNING AS THAT FRONT DROPS TO THE SOUTH, AND THEN AS WE HEAD INTO THE WEEKEND, AS YOU CAN SEE THERE, AFTERNOON HIGHS 90 TO 95. RAINFALL CHANCES RUNNING AT ABOUT 30 TO 40%. AND THEN WE DRY OUT YE
