Kate Middleton was seen beaming alongside the Royal Family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace as she made her first public apperance since announcing she was diagnosed with cancer
Kate Middleton was spotted joining the Royal Family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for King Charles’ birthday parade the Trooping the Colour amid her ongoing cancer treatment.
On Saturday afternoon, the Princess of Wales was spotted beaming on the balcony of the Palace alongside Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, King Charles III, and Queen Camilla. As they stood on the balcony, the Royal Family looked on at the customary aerial salute. This marks Princess Kate’s first-ever public appearance since announcing her cancer diagnosis in March.
Princess Kate made her grand entrance alongside her three children at the ceremony riding in a horse-drawn carriage. All eyes were on Princess Kate at the parade. She looked as beautiful as ever as she was seen wearing an elegant white dress designed by Jenny Packman with an eye-matching blue-and-white bow. She accessorized the outfit with the traditional Irish Guards Regimental Brooch and a hat designed by Philip Treacy.

And while Kate shared a vulnerable update about her ongoing chemotherapy treatment, she was seen in high spirits as she attended the ceremony for the 11th year. Princess Kate has been in attendance every year for the parade since she married Prince William in 2011. The ceremony is a tradition to honor King Charles III’s birthday and has taken place annually, only ever being cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After Princess Kate confirmed she would be in attendance at the Trooping the Colour, a spokesperson for King Charles revealed: “His Majesty is delighted that The Princess is able to attend tomorrow’s events, and is very much looking forward to all elements of the day.”
This comes as Princess Kate shared a transparent health update on Friday afternoon admitting that she has been experiencing “good and bad days” as she continues to fight cancer. In her update, she explained: “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”
The Palace has not shared what type of cancer she is battling, but in February, it was announced that she had started a course of preventative chemotherapy. Princess Kate explained that although she still has months of chemotherapy ahead, she is remaining positive and is living life to the fullest during her “strong” days.
She explained: “On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.” She added that she also hopes to “join a few public engagements over the summer” but is aware that she is “not out of the woods yet.”
Princess Kate finished off her update thanking her supporters for their love and encouragement throughout her health battle. She said: “I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal. Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.”
