Saweetie gets sultry in her new “Is It The Way” music video. Enticing the men with just an eye glance in the streets of London, the Bay Area representative takes her time running down the reasons that may have her suitors in a trance.
The Tajana Tokyo-directed video finds the 31-year-old confidently strutting in multiple fashion-forward looks and taking her turn at choreography under an icy-blue hue. “Is It The Way,” samples Jill Scott‘s 2000 classic record “The Way,” which appears in the visual, as well.
“Blasian mix, super thick, California chick/Photogenic, take a pic, top of every list/Mrs. Make-It-Happen, doin’ numbers, got ’em pissed,” boasts the Grammy-nominated rapper in the first verese.
“Is It The Way” follows Saweetie’s party-ready “Nani” issued in May and the unapologetic “My Best” which landed on former President Barack Obama’s 2024 summer playlist. Additionally, she released the “Richtivities” anthem earlier this year.
“What the song and the video showcases is just embracing your individuality,” explained Saweetie of “Is It The Way” on Friday’s episode (Sept. 27) of The Jennifer Hudson Show. “I’ve always been a fan of women, especially from other cultures…It’s just an ode to the big bosses out there like yourself who’s handling they business.”
“I’ve been in this awkward stage of almost grown and becoming grown, through that I’ve changed a lot internally,” she continued, detailing how her mother has supported her creatively as she ushers in a new era. “She’s the first person to give her critique because she knows the transition that I’ve been experiencing over these past couple years.”
